When I think about the the Class of 2017, I think of the group of students that met me in the Diversity Center and will soon meet me as alumni. One person in particular has exemplified the energy and character it takes to care for Gustavus enough to demand that ALL means ALL. Janet has walked residence halls and lived in the Diversity Center. She has worked at Tennis and Life Camps and served on the President’s Council on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Janet has cared for people beyond a concern for her care. And that investment has meant the world to me and for that commitment to Gustavus, Janet, I am humbled to have stood alongside you for such a time as this.
