Consider a Year-End Gift to Gustavus Posted on December 23rd, 2010 by

For nearly 150 years, Gusties have been giving back to their alma mater through gifts of time, talent, and philanthropy.  The Gustavus experience is made possible because of the generosity of donors who have made Gustavus the fine institution it is.  Without philanthropy, Gustavus would never have been founded, expanded or enabled to play the vital role it does today on the educational landscape of the country.  It is a wonderful part of our rich legacy and a way for Gusties to make their lives count.

An IRA is one way to make a gift to Gustavus, and recent legislation has extended the IRA Charitable Rollover for both 2010 and 2011.  This means that if you are over age 70 ½ and have an IRA, you may transfer up to $100,000 directly from your IRA to Gustavus.  Because this bill was passed so late in the year, charitable gifts made from IRA can be made through January 2011 and treated as if they were made by December 31, 2010.

While your financial situation may not allow for a gift through an IRA, Gustavus welcomes gifts of all sizes. As the end of the tax-year quickly approaches, please take a moment now to make your year-end gift to Gustavus.  Your gift will ensure that Gustavus students continue to receive an excellent education.
